Founding Subscription

$150.00

A Founding Subscription is for readers who want to back the mission of Mountain Athlete Journal and help bring the first two issues to life. This subscription includes the first two issues, shipping July 2026 and January 2027.

In addition to your generous support of the future of print and the creative expression of our contributors, Founders also receive recognition in the front of Issue 02 plus signed, large format and high-quality prints of the cover photos with delivery of each Issue 01 and Issue 02.

Your contribution directly helps make the magazine happen: printing costs, fair pay to contributors, and licensing of photography and art. This will only be offered once, open through July 1, and limited to 25 people (US customers only).

Note: this is not a recurring subscription. You will need to re-subscribe at $50/yr after Issue 02 ships.

The debut, print-only issue of Mountain Athlete Journal is filled with over 100 pages of creative expression by and for mountain athletes. Through the theme of Movement and Meaning, we’ll traverse New Zealand’s South Island in the Tour Te Waipounamu in a story of competitive exploration with Mateo Paez, think deeply about perfection in athleticism and art with Sarah Groman, and chase daylight and elk in Wyoming with the writer/photographer duo of Eli Isaac and Mitch Yadven. We’ll spend 14 hours skiing Idaho’s Boulder Mountain Range with Jackson Long, reframe what sport means after debilitating injury with Holly Harris, see photography and poetry inspired by the mountains, and more.

Orders will be shipped in mid-July.

100+ pages
A4 trim (210 × 297 mm).
Printed on uncoated, FSC-certified paper by Hemlock Printers in Vancouver, BC.
Long-form and human-made, independent creativity.

Mountain Athlete Journal is an independent, print-only magazine by and for those who move through the mountains with intention and creativity. We publish the writing, photography, and art that emerges from meaningful movement in the mountains.
