Mountain Athlete Journal.

A biannual print magazine celebrating creative mountain athletes who find meaning through movement and expression through art.

Featuring skiers, cyclists, runners, and mountaineers who share their experiences and wisdom through photography, writing, and art. We publish personal stories and creative work that explore the deeper meaning behind athletic pursuits. It's a real life, tactile alternative to algorithms and digital feeds, printed twice a year, and built by and for a community that values depth, creativity, and authentic connection to the mountains.

Born and raised in the glorious Wood River Valley of Idaho.

About

The Mountain Athlete Journal is the idea of Jackson Long, a proud mountain athlete. Feeling exhausted by the noise of social media algorithms and the concerning rise of artificial intelligence, Jackson felt compelled to create something real and tactile to share his passion for mountain endurance sports, photography, and writing. Jackson is also a coach and sports nutritionist dedicated to supporting athletes in their pursuit of performance and meaning in their sports.

The Journal aims to be a physical canvas for elevating the art and stories of mountain athletes in an effort to build creative community away from the internet. A breath of fresh air from endless scrolling.
